Customizing Your Zendrum
Re-positioning Triggers
If you have a customized Zendrum or if you have added additional triggers, then you will want to rearrange the triggers within ZenEdit to better match your physical instrument.
Enable trigger movement
By default all trigger locations are locked to guard against inadvertently moving them. To unlock the locations and allow the triggers to be moved, enter Customization Mode by clicking on the main view icon . You can now drag the triggers around within the view menu. If you enable the checkbox to 'highlight moved items' then you'll be able to easily spot which triggers have been moved from their default locations. There are also controls here to reset the default locations.
Change trigger size
In the event that your customized triggers differ from the default sizes then you may also change them when in this view. You may also change the trigger type for more advanced builds.
Identifying custom triggers
If you have a customized Zendrum or if you have added additional triggers then will need to match up those triggers to the on-screen versions. The best way to do this is to hook up your Zendrum to your computer using a MIDI interface.
Once you have your MIDI connection and Zendrum up and running, perform the following to properly identify your triggers.
1) Select a "melodic" User Setup on your Zendrum (such as Setups #1 through 13).
2) Select the same Setup number within ZenEdit.
3) Physically tap a trigger on your Zendrum and watch which one lights up in ZenEdit.
4) If the trigger that lit up is not in the expected location, drag it to the correct area.
5) Repeat for each trigger on your Zendrum until each trigger in ZenEdit correctly matches it.
* Please note that for this to work both the Zendrum and ZenEdit must be using unmodified, factory default settings for the selected User Setup.
Be sure to save your file when done. You can now use this file as a template when creating new ZenEdit files (by first opening it and then using Save As from the File menu.
Altering Your Zendrum Appearance
You can alter the wood grain and color within ZenEdit to better match your physical Zendrum. Use the controls that appear here on the customization screen to tweak the on-screen appearance.
